THE VISION 

Mary Bergen's "clairvoyance" began 24 years ago 
when, as a little girl of 6, she endured a sexual 
assault of such cruelty and depravity that she 
blocked it from her memory. All Mary could remember 
of her ordeal was "the sound of fluttering wings." 
The trauma, however, would mark Mary's life, making 
her "different" in an extraordinary way: she would 
come to possess a rare psychic gift that allowed 
her to foresee violent crimes.

Now a series of homicides has shocked Los Angeles, 
with seven victims already claimed by an unknown 
murderer. And this time Mary's visions, so brutal 
they wake her from her sleep, are different: She 
can actually feel a knife twisting inside her body. 
Yet every time she is about to "see" the murderer's 
face, her perception becomes blurred....and she 
hears the fluttering of wings.

Finally, Mary "sees" where and when the killer will 
strike again, and knows that she must go to meet 
him face to face....for if she is to have a future, 
she must at last confront the terrible truth in her 
past.
